Inspired by current trends in graphic design and early American folk art, specifically from my family’s home state of Pennsylvania, Fabulist attempts to merge visual stylistics from the past and present. This brand design project is for a small scale imprint and schematized booklet series re-envisioning the well-known Aesop’s Fables. Upon considering the often harsh, unforgiving messaging to children in these parables, I decided to give this project a slightly cryptic name. ‘Fabulist’ may have one of two definitions: a teller of fables or a teller of lies. The reader can decide on whichever they like.
